Cannabinoids Aren’t Only Responsible For Causing Psychoactive Effect, They Do a Lot More

Cannabinoids aren't only responsible for causing psychoactive effect, they do a lot more

Cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Plant are generally known for causing the psychoactive effect or which is casually described as ‘High’ feeling. However, they do a lot more to our body and brain according to the medical practitioners and scientists. We’ll briefly explore the potential of one such Cannabinoid in this blog.

CBD or Cannabidiol –  A Cannabinoid Found The in Cannabis Plant

Cannabidiol or CBD (more popular name) belongs to the Cannabinoids Family and is one of the 113 identified cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Plant. CBD accounts for the 40% of the plant’s extract, which means it is dominantly present in the plant’s entire composition. If we go by the words of all the wise men, the scientists and researchers, CBD can help in getting relief and curing various physiological and cognitive disorders. For example, you can use CBD infused products for getting rid of inflammation, anxiety or chronic pain. This shows how effective this compound is. It has been found in the studies that Cannabinoids, instead of harming, help the human body fight against various injuries as well. CBD does all these things except one, it doesn’t give the ‘High’ feeling. THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol causes psychoactive effect in our brain.

How CBD is Different From THC?

In spite of originating from the same plant and belonging to the same family, CBD and THC are different in the way they bind with our body and mind. Before we get to that, let’s recall what you had been taught about the Endocannabinoid System in your Science class. The Endocannabinoid System, found in the human body, is composed of endocannabinoids and regulates many physiological and cognitive process. Interestingly, our body also contains two cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, which are thoroughly expressed throughout our Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous System. The CB1 receptor is dominantly present in the Central Nervous System. Whereas, the CB2 receptor is mainly present in the Immune System (CB2 receptors are also present in the Central Nervous System but not as dominantly as CB1 receptors). The reason why CBD doesn’t cause any psychoactive effect is that it binds with the CB2 receptor. On the other hand, THC, another Cannabinoid found in the Cannabis Plant, binds with the CB1 receptor and thus the ‘High’ effect.

Which CBD Products You Can Use?

CBD can be taken into the body through various means such as smoke or vapor, oil, cream, etc. However, before you get your hands there, it’s important to note that usage of CBD hasn’t been completely legalized in the United States. In other words, not all kinds of CBD or CBD infused products are legal in the country. Using CBD which is extracted from the Cannabis Plant can land you in prison. However, thanks to the Farm Bill 2018, usage of CBD extracted from Hemp has been permitted by the law. CBD extracted from hemp just contains 0.03% THC (now you can imagine why it’s legal). Overall, you can use any CBD infused products such as CBD Oil, cream, or chocolate if it’s extracted from hemp.

Buying CBD products may require some effort as there are very few authentic online stores that sell good CBD infused products. You can go with as one of your choices.
